Floating comment box for AO3
A script to create a floating comment box at the bottom of the page for works on AO3. Box will be closed by default, and can be open/closed using the button in the top left corner of the window.
Saving to Local Storage
All text entered into the floating comment box is saved as it's being written. If you exit your browser or it crashes, it will all still be there when you return later. This will persist until you hit the delete button, at which point anything saved will be deleted from local storage.
Insert Selection
Clicking the Insert Selection button will insert the current text selected in italics tags into the floating box.
Adding to Comment Box
This button will put any text currently into the floating comment box into the real comment box, for easy transfer. Please note that while a rough character count is provided, it does not completely match AO3's count, and therefore a comment might still need to be split. The floating comment box itself will not limit it to that number, and will save longer comments.
Chapter vs Entire Work View
If you are viewing a chaptered work in chapter by chapter view, you will be given the option to have a comment for the specific chapter, or for the entire work. The former will be viewable when on the page for that specific chapter. The latter will be viewable when toggled, or in entire work view. Both otherwise work as normal, and can be inserted into the main comment box as is your preference.
Other Features
If you prefer to change your font size, this can be set using the dropdown. All UI elements are designed to be responsive and will resize depending on the size of your screen/window. Please note though that this was not designed for or tested on mobile phones and will not work ideally at that size.
