Universal Link Manager Pro v5.0: Overview

Core Function

A persistent, floating interface for bookmark management accessible on any webpage.

Accessibility

  • Toggle the menu via a floating bubble or the Ctrl + Alt + U shortcut.
  • Instantly save the current page from anywhere with Ctrl + Alt + A — no menu needed.
  • Keyboard shortcut hints are displayed directly in the UI header for discoverability.

Privacy & Security

  • Local Storage: All data stays on your device; no external servers or tracking.
  • Isolation: Uses Shadow DOM to prevent script styles from breaking website layouts.
  • Exclusions: Automatically disables on banking and sensitive sites; users can manually blacklist specific domains.

Note: PIN Lock has been removed as it provided minimal security value for the use case. Your links remain protected by browser level security.

Organization & Navigation

  • Hierarchical Sorting: Organize links using Categories (color coded), Folders (sidebar navigation), and Tags.
  • Navigation Tools:
    • A–Z Bar: Instant jumping and filtering by first letter.
    • Search: Real time filtering across labels, URLs, tags, and folders with highlighted matching text in results.
    • Recent Panel: Quick access to the last 3–25 saved links with relative timestamps.
  • Sorting Modes: Toggle between Manual (drag and drop), Alphabetical (A to Z / Z to A), or Newest First.
  • Dynamic Link Count: The header displays your total saved links in real time.

Folder System (v5.0 — Redesigned)

  • Sidebar Navigation: Folders now live in a dedicated left sidebar panel instead of inline chips. Clean, always visible, professional layout.
  • All Links View: Top level option to see every saved link regardless of folder.
  • Unfiled View: Dedicated filter to find links that have not been assigned to any folder.
  • Folder Counts: Each folder displays its link count in a badge for quick reference.
  • Delete Folders from Sidebar: When Edit Mode is active, each folder shows a delete button directly in the sidebar. Confirmation required before deletion. Links inside a deleted folder are kept but become unfiled.
  • Auto Create Folders: When saving a link with a new folder name, the folder is automatically registered. No need to create it separately first.
  • Collapsible Sidebar: Toggle the sidebar open or closed with a single click. Your preference is saved and persists across sessions.

Management Features

  • Smart Adding: One click "Add This Site" or Ctrl + Alt + A with automatic categorization and duplicate detection.
  • Link Health: Built in checker to verify if saved URLs are active, redirected, or broken.
  • Context Menu: Right click any link to open in a new tab, copy the URL, edit details, check health, or delete.
  • Analytics: Optional click tracking to monitor link usage frequency.
  • Keyboard Navigation: Use Arrow keys to navigate the link list and Enter to open. Fully keyboard accessible.

Customization

  • Visual Themes: 7 presets (Cyan Neon, High Contrast, Ocean Blue, Sunset, Forest, Purple Haze, Light Mode) plus a full custom color editor.
  • UI Adjustments: Modify bubble size, icon (emoji or text), screen corner position, and toggle animations or favicons.
  • Notifications: Color coded toast alerts (success, error, warning, info) provide instant feedback for all actions.

User Interface (v5.0 Changes)

  • Sidebar Folder Navigation: Replaced the old folder chip bar with a proper sidebar panel. Folders are displayed vertically with icons, names, link counts, and contextual delete buttons. Collapsible to maximize content space.
  • All Accordions Closed by Default: The panel opens clean with no sections expanded, reducing visual noise and letting you focus on your links.
  • Panel Defaults Setting: New configuration under Settings that lets you choose which accordion sections (Add Link, Appearance, Settings, Backup and Tools) should open automatically when you launch the panel. Fully customizable and saved to your preferences.
  • Accordion Layout: Bottom sections use smooth collapsible accordions instead of flat tabs, reducing clutter and improving focus.
  • Collapsible Settings Groups: Settings are organized into dropdown sections:
    • Display (animations, favicons, click count)
    • Behavior (new tab, confirm delete, recent count)
    • Panel Defaults (choose which sections open on launch)
    • Categories (manage, rename, recolor)

Data Portability
