Adds a link under every fiction title on your Follow List on Royal Road to start or continue reading in one click, inspired by Chameleon's script and edited to suit my preferences.
NOTE: as of 2020-04-25 the V2 follows list now has it's own "Open Next Chapter" button so this script is not needed if you use the V2 page.
Adds a link under every fiction title on your Follow List on Royal Road to start or continue reading in one click.
By default it will open in a new tab / window but this can be overridden by setting linkOpenBehaviour to "current" near the beginning of the script.
The V2 Follows List on RR is great, but fundamentally flawed because it doesn't give you any indication of whether the latest chapter is the next for you and this is especially obvious when authors use non-standard numbering, release side chapters, or post announcements as chapters - and it's also annoying if you let chapters build up to binge later, as you have no option to go straight to the next chapter.
The other list types only show the latest chapter(s) for each fiction, with no indication of if you have started reading them - never mind what chapter you are currently on.
This was inspired by another script by Chameleon who posted on the Royal Road feedback / suggestions website. I have extensively modified it to cut down on DOM function calls, use AJAX instead of XHR, change the visual appearance of the link slightly, work with the other list types, and allow you to start reading a fiction as well as continue reading.
Developed in Tampermonkey v4.10.6105 using Firefox 74.0 (64-bit) on Windows 10.
I sometimes make dark CSS themes and JS userscripts. Some of them aren't terrible.
