Disable YouTube AV1

  • As AV1 is suppressed, YouTube videos are likely to become VP9.
  • The availability of all resolutions including 2k and 4k remains unchanged.
  • Hardware Decoding might be used for VP9 video depending on System OS & Browser Config.
  • Opposite Script: Use YouTube AV1

  • Related Script: Disable YouTube AV1 and VP9

Note:

Important Note: Without AV1, currently you can still watch videos in 2K, 4K or above quality.

However, VP9, which is worse than AV1, will be used. (Lower Quality & Lower Compression)

AV1 is not yet supported in hardware decoding.

VP9 is usually supported in hardware decoding in modern PC.
